    Background

    Auckland Council provides many services from parks and reserves to libraries and permits.

    To better deliver these services we wanted to understand how our services are being used, and who is using them. Within this survey we asked the People’s Panel which of council’s services they’ve used in the last 3 months along with information about themselves, to see if there are any trends in use of council services by demographic groups (e.g. age, gender, ethnicity, local area).

    How we will use the results

    Results from this survey are being used to better understand which groups in Auckland are using council’s services. This is an ongoing piece of work to improve delivery of council’s services.

    • 9,282 panellists received an invitation
    • 1,281 surveys were completed
    • Survey was open for 6 days (11 - 16 September 2018)

    This survey was run on Auckland Council's People's Panel, a quick and easy way for Aucklanders to help shape Auckland by taking part in short surveys.

  • Question 4G Do you have any comments about council's services or this survey?

    Council are only interested in central & south Auckland. Have no understanding of rural areas & want us all to live in tiny slum boxes & ride bikes.

    I think a lot of people don't appreciate the range of high quality services that Auckland Council provides. While there are a lot of issues to be tackled within Auckland, there are also a lot of positives and it is good to acknowledge these. I really appreciate the Auckland newsletter from the council, which draws my attention to the cool events supported by the council and local boards. I also love the regional parks and think it is essential to support these as much as possible.

    The council services such as library work well but maintenance services are very poor. No regular servicing of stormwater drains and only attend to lawn mowing when a complaint is laid.

    Processing of rates objections taking far too long. Some poor transport decisions being made on bad advice.

    Please keep investing in cycleway initiatives in the suburbs to connect to transport hubs and main cycleway routes as we would love to use the car less and cycle safely to work, school, the parks and shops.

    Just waste of ratepayers money

    There are areas where I've had good experiences, requested a rubbish bin to be collected that was missed - and other areas (parking) that have been drawn out. My general experience would reflect this - in terms of communication / council seem to excel in some areas (major projects), whereas others there isn't always information available.

    Generally speaking, many of our views and opinions are not highly received.

    I am completely satisfied with this survey, in my opinion it is very straight forward I had no problems answering the question that were stated.

    You guys are awesome. I run a small community cleaning group in Ranui and Swanson. My neighbors and I get together to clean local parks and Roads, and you guys are awesome. You've been so helpful with the rubbish disposal, it's amazing! When I got hold of the right person, we managed to come to a great arrangement. I feel like our community's efforts to keep the area nice and clean are being supported.. Thank you:)

    I am extremely annoyed with the way they do not consult local boards about what they want to do and do not listen to what people say. They seem to spend money on a lot of things that are not necessary and neglect things that need to be done. They want to get rid of parks and open spaces when these are necessary to build a community. They closed our information centre when tourism is a good way to increase revenue. They don’t seem to realise face to face contact is important and think everything can be done on computer.

    My view is slanted by the recent debacle at the West Lynn shops re the cycle lanes etc. Overall though I think you do a great job re parks, events, sports fields etc

    I think light rail is a mistake. Should extend existing heavy rail. Too many Auckland Council staff on high salaries.

    I don't like the fuel tax

    Difficult to get information on building consent, either a receptionist with little knowledge answers the phone or knowledgeable people don't call back!
