The Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment has just launched consultation on a series of proposed updates to standards referenced in in the Electricity (Safety) Regulations 2010 and the Gas (Safety and Measurement) Regulations 2010.
We are letting interested parties know because these updates are likely to impact businesses involved with the supply and use of electricity and gas as well as electricity and gas consumers.
What is being proposed
The consultation proposes updates to more than 300 of the standards currently cited in the regulations. This includes updates, the removal of withdrawn standards, and the introduction of new standards, such as for electric vehicle charging infrastructure. A series of changes are also proposed reflecting new international standard setting, and conformance bodies established since the regulations were last updated.

This feedback will inform final recommendations for updating standards referenced in the Electricity (Safety) Regulations 2010 and the Gas (Safety and Measurement) Regulations 2010.
