Four new faces join board

Amanda Kinzett and Logan Soole join new chair Andy Baker and Alan Cole as your Pukekohe reps, Matthew Murphy partners Sharlene Druyven in Waiuku, and Lance Gedge joins deputy chair Angela Fulljames and Malcolm Bell in Wairoa. Results here.

Club's hard work pays off

Mountain-bikers have a new network thanks to the hard work of the Pohutukawa Coast Bike Club. We chipped in with $40,000 but the club also raised another $97,000 to help build seven kilometres of new trails in the Whitford forest. More here.

Six marae named to receive help

Auckland Council’s $60m programme to improve marae across the region will bring benefits to Franklin, where Ngā Hau E Wha O Pukekohe, Umupuia, Ngati Kohua, Reretewhioi, Tahuna and Whatapaka have all been included. More here.

Old friends come home

The Ngāti Tamaoho Trust has opened new premises in Hingaia Road in neighbouring Karaka with offices, a library, training spaces, arts workshops and a retail space. Franklin ward’s Bill Cashmore says it’s like having an old friend return home. Read more here.

Weaver's work on show

Don’t miss Franklin Arts Centre’s Whatu Manawa, celebrating the weaving of New Zealand treasure Matekino Lawless QSM (Tainui). The Rotoiti-based weaver's exhibition honours her dedication to the art and tradition of raranga. More here.

You're welcome in Waiuku

Enjoy a night out in Waiuku on 9 November at Rugby Park, when Blast to the Past offers something for the whole family, including a market with 50-odd stalls and carnival entertainment. There’s live music from 6pm and fireworks at around 8.45pm. More here.

Santa is coming to town

Apparently Santa is coming to Waiuku on 14 December! There’s an outdoor market with a variety of stalls and food vendors, live music and entertainment and a parade from about at 2pm up through the main street. Who doesn’t love a parade! More here.
