Throughout the four-week Government-imposed lockdown, Asteron Life is committed to being there for you and your clients. Insurance is considered an essential service and Asteron Life will continue to operate throughout as our people are well equipped to work from home. 

Below are further updates relating to Covid-19 and the types of cover or assistance available to your clients during this time.
 

Business as usual for Asteron Life
We would like to reassure you that Asteron Life will continue to assess each application for disability cover on its merits, particularly with regards to mental health and Covid-19. We are in regular consultation with our reinsurer and at this stage we are not considering blanket Covid-19 or mental health exclusions on new cover.

This is a rapidly evolving situation and we are working closely with our reinsurer to ensure that we can give both existing and new customers the certainty and information they need around our products. Please let your clients know that their existing cover is not affected by Covid-19 and it is very much business as usual for us as we continue to prudently underwrite risk on a case by case basis.  
 

Helping customers experiencing financial hardship
Asteron Life is making it easier for you to help clients  experiencing financial hardship as a result of Covid-19 with a simplified process and declaration form.

Whether a client is experiencing redundancy, bankruptcy or financial hardship, they can apply for the following using the new declaration form:

  • Premium Holiday for lump sum cover; or

  • Premium & Cover Suspension for disability income covers.

Clients who are on sabbatical or long-term leave are also able to request cover suspension for their disability income cover.

If you have clients who are experiencing financial hardship please contact your BDM to obtain our Covid-19 financial hardship declaration form and  guidelines to assist clients through this process. Please note there are some limitations on cover associated with some benefits, for example, no claim can be made at any time for a condition which first arises while there is a premium and cover suspension in place. Using AsteronConnect for new business
We  encourage  you  to submit business through AsteronConnect. This speeds up the application process significantly and enables you to complete the application with your client online, whether it’s over Skype, Zoom or another preferred platform. Currently AsteronConnect is only suitable for new business and not applicable for increases or changes to existing business.  

Our tele-interviewing service is still operating as usual and can be booked through AsteronConnect. If you’re new to AsteronConnect it may be a great option as during the tele-interview the Asteron Life team completes the personal statement with your client for you.
