We recognise that now more than ever is the time to be flexible in our approach, so we have reinstated a number of measures which were put in place for lockdown in early 2020.

Cover for Commercial Customers with unoccupied business premises
There may be a number of customers who have business premises which are not being used during the lockdown period. For unoccupied Commercial premises, customers can rest assured that the regular unoccupied terms will not be applied during the Level Four or Three lockdown period and the customer’s cover will continue in full.

Property inspections – residential and commercial
Landlords of residential properties or assigned property managers usually carry out property inspections to meet their insurance obligations and identify maintenance issues. Vero recognises that during Level Four and Level Three alert levels, these inspections are not able to be carried out in most circumstances. Vero will also respect decisions to temporarily postpone an inspection if a property is occupied by anyone who is self-isolating or has had a positive Covid-19 test result. The same would apply to any person who would normally carry out such inspection. Any claim where the lack of inspection may be material to the loss will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

For commercial properties, inability to comply with the required inspections as a result of Level Four or Level Three alert levels will be allowed until 30 days after alert levels drop to level two or lower.

Cover when working from home
Business customers already have automatic cover for office equipment temporarily at the employee’s home (including transit to and from their home). Please check that the limits are sufficient. Vero will continue to work with you to provide the best solution.

Expired WOFs or drivers licences
If a customer’s WOF expires during Level Three or Level Four lockdown, this will not impact the outcome of any claim they may have to make. Their motor insurance will still be in place and effective, as long as there aren’t any existing safety issues that would mean they would not get a WOF – like tyres needing to be replaced. They will also be covered if they have an accident, as long as the accident isn’t a result of an existing safety issue.

A customer’s drivers licence expiring during the lockdown period will also not have an impact on the outcome of any claim they make if their vehicle were to be involved in an accident. Vero recommends that customers renew their WOF or driver’s licence as soon as practically possible when the lock down period ends.
