Time is running out for Aucklanders to have their say on the region’s plans for the next 10 years, with consultation on Auckland Council’s Long-term Plan closing on Thursday, 28 March.

The council still wants feedback on its proposed funding model, changes to rates, investment in infrastructure, public transport and other facilities, including locally-owned assets – things that impact people on a daily basis.

Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Ward Councillor, Josephine Bartley explains, “While some of these things may not seem like they directly affect you, chances are changes to rates will have a flow-on effect for renters.

“And in 10 years’ time, your children could be the ones to rely on public transport, libraries and our parks and sports facilities if they don’t already do so now,” says Councillor Bartley.

Albert-Eden-Puketāpapa Ward Councillor, Julie Fairey says: “With the impacts of climate change showing our increasing vulnerability to storms and floods, the Long-term Plan has a range of proposals to both improve our resilience and address outstanding damage.

“But we need to know if you support those efforts, and to what level you want that mahi prioritised for our region, over the next ten years.”

There are numerous ways to learn more about the plan and have your say on what is being proposed for Auckland. Aucklanders can provide feedback via an online form, email or drop off the form in person at their local library or at an Auckland Council service centres. Events with local board members have been hosted around the region and online sessions have been held to engage with as many residents as possible.
