• Thank you for volunteering at Te Ara Awataha regeneration day on 13 November 2021.

As part of the wider Te Ara Awataha, Kaipātiki Project is working on a community-led restoration of the Jessie Tonar Scout Reserve.

This bush-clad reserve at the end of Kākā Street is home to the source of the Awataha Stream and had deep significance to local Mana Whenua. The flow-on effects from the Awataha Greenway Project will be significant, contributing to numerous ecological and social improvements the whole community will benefit from for years to come.

We have been clearing invasive plant species and made good progress with planting a number of native plants on the site. We’ll continue cleaning up harakeke stands as well as clearing the wild ginger onsite. Come down and give us a hand!

    Things to bring:
    - Suitable closed-toed footwear: gumboots or boots
    - Clothing appropriate for the weather
    - Reusable water bottle
    - Sun protection
