SafePlus: The new name for Safety Star Rating
|
|
The Safety Star Rating(SSR)/Health and Safety Performance Improvement Toolkit has a new name!
After consultation with the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) and the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE), industry and market testing with business, 44 name suggestions were narrowed down to one: SafePlus.
SafePlus was the most preferred name in our market testing, independently undertaken by Research NZ.

SafePlus - free Resources and Guidance now available
|
|
SafePlus Resources and Guidance is now freely available to use and download on our website.
This includes the SafePlus performance requirements, along with some tailored sector versions. Accredited assessors or businesses will incorporate the SafePlus requirements into a business’s approach to health and safety, and measure and provide advice and guidance on how to improve.
The Resources and Guidance also include a guide for businesses interested in using the SafePlus Onsite Assessment and Advisory Service.

Accreditation body appointed
|
|
We’re delighted to announce that Tracecare Limited has been appointed as the SafePlus accreditation body. Tracecare will be responsible for assessing the competency of private market candidates applying to become accredited assessors to carry out SafePlus Onsite Assessments and Advisory Service in the market.
Tracecare is a New Zealand company that provides consulting services in governance, security, emergency management, and health. Tracecare’s staff are qualified assessors and adjudicators representing complaints on behalf of the New Zealand Medical Council and the New Zealand Nursing Council.
Tracecare’s government clients include ACC, Department of Internal Affairs and MBIE.

Becoming a SafePlus assessor
|
|
Independent accredited and trained assessors will offer onsite assessments to help businesses understand how well they are performing against the SafePlus performance requirements. They will also provide advice and best practice guidance on how to improve.
There will be a cost for an onsite assessment, which will be determined by the private market assessors.

Applying for accreditation
|
|
If you’re interested in becoming an assessor, please refer to our assessor compentency specification guide.
Applicants should email info@tracecare.co.nz with the following information: name, email, phone, address. Tracecare will contact you with an application pack.
Note these are individual as opposed to corporate accreditations.
The total assessment and approval process fee for applicants is $1,720 plus GST. Renewal and reaccreditation occurs every three years and the fee is $800 plus GST.
