Issue 4- October 2014
Hello
Welcome to the latest issue of the “Building Bulletin” an informative newsletter published by Auckland Council’s Building Control department. The purpose of this bulletin is to provide our customers with useful building-related information. Our customers constantly tell us that consistency is the most important thing for them; we hope that this bulletin will go some way towards achieving that goal.
Bulletins are produced regularly to provide information about changes to the Building Control sector, including
- news on special projects under construction
- changes to legislation affecting the building industry
- changes to the Building Code, council policies, procedures and forms
- updates on practice notes and guidance information; and
- other useful information
In May this year, I restructured the Building Control team and put a new management team in place. Previously we had area managers who represented the North, South, West and Central offices; each manager was responsible for all functions within their respective areas. Under the new structure we have functional managers for key services we provide including processing; inspection and policy. I believe this will result in even more positive changes.
I am delighted to tell you that the Building Control department have recently been audited by International Accreditation New Zealand (IANZ). IANZ found that no corrective actions were necessary. IANZ stated that “Auckland Councils Building Control department had made a phenomenal improvement in implementing its quality assurance system”.
This is a magnificent result, another indicator of the huge steps we have made over the past 2 years on our journey towards delivering consistent best practice services.
I trust you enjoy reading this Bulletin and welcome your feedback.
