New bus network approved for West Auckland.

Final decisions have also been made on West Auckland’s New Network for buses. Of the 24 routes in the consultation proposals, 11 have been changed as a result of feedback from the public.

Some of the key changes are:

  • Bus routes in West Auckland will be simplified and frequency improved along main corridors.
  • Peak express services to the city from Te Atatu Peninsula, Henderson via Te Atatu South, and Glen Eden have been retained.
  • A peak service from Helensville to the city via Westgate and the North-Western motorway has been retained.

The possibility of a busway along the North-Western motorway is being investigated and depending on the outcome could change the bus network in the north-west corridor. The New Network for west Auckland is expected to be introduced in late 2016.

Have your say on the Regional Public Transport Plan.

Give us your feedback on proposed variations to Auckland’s Regional Public Transport Plan (RPTP) before it closes on Friday 5 June 2015.

The current RPTP was completed in 2013, but now there is the need to update references to some public transport initiatives within the RPTP and to incorporate some new initiatives. These include Simplified Zone Fares, light rail, ferry development and New Network services.

The RPTP is a statutory document that describes the services that are integral to Auckland’s public transport network and the policies and procedures that apply to those services. It describes the public transport services that Auckland Transport proposes for the region over a 10 year period and outlines how this vision for Auckland’s public transport network will be delivered.
