There’s plenty on at the Gallery over the next fortnight, including exciting new exhibitions, a hui and a range of free events for all. From 18 July, encounter rooms full of wonder in the new exhibition, Wunderrūma: New Zealand Jewellery. Visit on Wunderrūma's opening weekend and enjoy demonstrations, a curators’ talk and tour and a jewellery discussion.

Vision and Re-vision: Imagining the Pacific Then and Now

Join us for a hui to consider ideas generated by two interconnected exhibitions currently on display – in Pursuit of Venus (infected) and Printing the Pacific 1696–1804. Speakers include: Vivienne Webb (keynote), Dr Peter Brunt, Lisa Reihana, David Maskill, Dr Caroline Vercoe, Mathew Norman, Nina Tonga and Dr Ella Henry.

Enter rooms of wonder filled with pieces created by contemporary New Zealand artists, alongside Māori taonga and art from the Gallery's collection. Visit to discover the variety in material and process that the exhibition's co-curators and leading jewellers, Warwick Freeman and Karl Fritsch found in their exploration of adornment in Aotearoa New Zealand.

The essential markers of artist John Reynolds' Epistomadologies series is almost 100 street names from around New Zealand which have been collected, alphabetised and then visually stacked by the artist. These lists are interspersed with notes on wide-ranging subjects, word games and moments of visual interlude – dots, dashes, and grids.

Including the work of five leading contemporary New Zealand artists – Kate Newby, Simon Denny, Ruth Buchanan, Fiona Connor and Ronnie van Hout – Inside Outside Upside Down exhibits a potent variety of responses to the world we shape and share.
