AGM and Executive Committee Update |
|
We hosted our AGM before the June Event. Our President, Gavin Lennox, presented the financials and the members elected the Executive Committee for the coming year.
We are delighted to welcome a new addition to the team: Averill Dickinson, as well as the return of Anchali Anandanayagam to the Committee.
We also salute Martin Keyte, who has stepped down from the Committee after many years fantastic service. A special thanks to you Martin for the huge contribution you've made to the NZSA.
The Exec Committee announced at the August event that Gavin Lennox had stepped down as President, but will remain on the Exec. Roger Ford, an Exec Committee member since Dec 2013 has been elected as the new president. Roger is honoured to take up the challenge. At the dinner announcement, Gavin was acknowledged by the members, attendees, including a number of past presidents, for the outstanding contribution he has made to the organisation during his tenure.

August's NZSA Networking Event |
|
August’s NZSA networking event was a sell-out, with a packed house turning out on a wintry Auckland evening.
The evening got off to a cracker start thanks to a round of drinks kindly sponsored by Howard & Co, followed by (once everyone had found a seat) some entertaining stories from Regan on German Rieslings and German winemakers.
John Quirk from Howard & Co then hosted a panel discussion with 3 leaders from the aviation software industry (Mark McCaughan from merlot.aero, Simon Mitchell from Matchbyte and Martin Grant from Private Flight) on managing growth.
Each of the speakers gave an overview of their business then discussed issues such as market positioning, innovation, crowd-sourced development, and the ability of Kiwi companies to take on larger offshore players.
The panel format created a very interesting and interactive evening, and it was interesting to hear the 3 presenters’ different perspectives on a number of issues.

NZ Cloud Computing Conference |
|
When: 7 September 2015
Where: Rendezvous Hotel, Auckland
“As cloud continues to shape the technology landscape and service delivery paradigm, companies need to re-evaluate all aspects of their service delivery model—from processes, controls and tools to governance, skills and culture.
Faster time-to-market, reduced capital outlay, and the ability to rapidly scale are among the promised benefits of cloud. However, cloud also introduces new complexities and dependencies into the IT management landscape that must be addressed to enable said benefits.
I invite you to join a proactive exchange at the 2015 NZ Cloud Computing conference to discuss how to future-proof cloud adoption strategies to achieve commercial advantage.”
